ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Fran Troyan's 20th season at Lehigh featured a number of memorable moments. The Mountain Hawks posted their fifth 40-win season and captured their 13th Patriot League Tournament crown, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time.

Troyan enjoyed another major moment Wednesday night as he was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Softball Hall of Fame Wednesday night at Patriots Park.

In 20 seasons, Troyan carries a record of 685-357-6. He has won 17 Patriot League regular season championships and ten tournament crowns and has been at the helm for all nine of Lehigh's NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by the Mountain Hawks defeating Texas A&M and reaching regional finals in 2006 and 2009.

Lehigh's 40-9 season in 2015 featured a Patriot League record 15 game win streak. The Mountain Hawks opened their new home facility, Leadership Park on April 22 and won the Patriot League Tournament on that field just over two weeks later. Lehigh was sent to Norman, Oklahoma for the NCAA Regionals and the Mountain Hawks went 1-2, defeating Central Arkansas 3-0 for the lone victory.

Troyan came to Lehigh initially as an assistant coach to his wife, Sue, in 1990. Sue recently completed her 20th season as Lehigh's head women's basketball coach, where she was won more than 300 games and three Patriot league titles.

In Fran's 25 seasons on South Mountain, Lehigh has won 20 regular season Patriot League championships and 13 Patriot League Tournament championships in softball. As head coach, he has produced 41 NFCA All-Region selections, 133 All-Patriot League selections and three Academic All-Americans. Troyan is a six-time Patriot League Coach of the Year, winning the award in 1997, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2014. He was twice honored regionally, winning Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2001 and heading the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Coaching Staff of The Year.

A native of Warren, Pa., Troyan was an all-league shortstop in baseball for Allegheny College, where he earned his bachelor's degree International Studies in 1986. He later received his Law Degree from The Dickinson School of Law and worked as a trial attorney prior to joining the Lehigh staff.
