Bausher and Watanabe earn Patriot League weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a stellar 5-0 week, the Patriot League recognized a pair of Mountain Hawks on Monday for their impressive performances. Senior Emily Bausher earned Pitcher of the Week honors while junior Alexis Watanabe took home Player of the Week laurels. Lehigh swept Boston University last Wednesday before completing a series sweep of Bucknell over the weekend to extended its winning streak to 15 games, a new school and Patriot League record.

This is the third consecutive week and fifth time this season that Bausher has garnered Pitcher of the Week honors. Bausher was outstanding in her three outings last week. She won all of her starts and gave up only four earned runs in 18 innings of work. Bausher struck out a season-high 11 batters with no walks against Bucknell in her second start of the week to propel Lehigh to an 11-3 victory. Bausher ended her week by throwing a complete game to clinch the Mountain Hawks' sweep over Bucknell. Bausher is now 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 28 innings of work in Patriot League play.

While Bausher was dominant in the circle, Wantanabe dazzled at the plate. The San Marino, California native hit safely and drove in a run every game last week, finishing 10-for-15 (.667) over the five contests. After compiling three hits and three runs in the doubleheader against Boston University, Wantanabe went 7-for-9 in the Bucknell series including a 3-for-3 performance with 3 RBI on Saturday. Wantanabe is now hitting .636 in Lehigh's eight league games and .517 overall.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Wednesday when they host a doubleheader against Hofstra. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
