Mahalsky earns Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's track and field senior Ryan Mahalsky has been named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Mahalsky recorded the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA in the 10,000 meter run last weekend at the Raleigh Relays. His mark of 29:27.35 set a new personal record and topped the IC4A qualifying standard by over a minute and a half. He finished in fourth place in the event and was less than eight seconds off the Lehigh school record of 29:19.76 that was set a season ago.

Freshman Trevor Knowles earned honorable mention recognition for the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award. Knowles recorded the best decathlon mark in the league this season with his score of 5,661 points that was good for third place at the Winthrop Invitational.

Mahalsky and the Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday when Lehigh heads to Easton for the annual Lehigh-Lafayette outdoor dual meet.
