
Lehigh drops 5-2 match to Temple Tuesday in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – In its final tune-up before Patriot League play begins this weekend, the Lehigh men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match to Temple Tuesday at the Legacy Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks won the doubles point, but dropped the first five singles flights as the Owls battled back to earn the victory.
The loss drops Lehigh to 9-6 while Temple improves to 10-8.
Lehigh clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 win from its top team: senior Ben Gilman and junior Jeremy Kochman over Nicolas Paulus and Hicham Belkssir. Temple won the match at No. 2 doubles, while Lehigh's No. 3 team of freshman Jack Petersen and sophomore Graham Lehman won 6-4 over Ian Glessing and Maros Januvka.
Temple responded by winning the first five singles flights, including a three-set win from Santiago Canete over Gilman at the top flight.
Sophomore Tyler Hansen posted Lehigh's lone singles win, rallying for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Glessing at the No. 6 flight.
Lehigh's final six regular season matches will be against Patriot League opponents beginning this weekend when Lehigh hosts Navy Saturday at 11 a.m. and then travels to Loyola on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
