Lehigh women picked second in Patriot League preseason poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team was picked second in the Patriot League preseason poll announced Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks garnered 39 points and two out of a possible 12 first place votes in the poll, which is voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
Women's golf is in its third year as a Patriot League sport. Lehigh won the inaugural Patriot League Championship in 2013 at Bucknell and crowned the individual champion, Crystal Lee, en route to a third place finish last year. Richmond joined the Patriot League as an associate member in women's golf. The Spiders became the league's sixth member in women's golf, meaning that the Patriot League champion can now earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional Championships.
Last year's runner-up, Boston University, was picked to win the title with 48 points and eight first place votes. Richmond was picked third with 30 points followed by defending champion Bucknell with 29 points and the remaining two first place votes. Navy and Holy Cross occupy spots five and six in the poll. The Midshipmen will host the Patriot League Championship April 18-19.
Lehigh competed in five fall tournaments, highlighted a fourth place finish at Navy's Chesapeake Bay Invitational and a second place finish at the fall-ending Lehigh Invitational presented by B Braun.
The Mountain Hawks are led by senior captain and two-time all-league performer Kelly Moylan. Junior Nicole Feierberg earned second team all-league honors last year and was the women's golf Rookie of the Year in 2013.
Lehigh's spring schedule begins at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, hosted by LIU-Brooklyn March 9-10 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Mountain Hawks will also play in tournaments hosted by William & Mary and Saint Francis (Pa.) leading up to the Patriot League Championship.
