BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head men's basketball coach Brett Reed has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent as part of the incoming class of 2020. The class features three incomers in forward Pat Andree, guard Jordan Cohen and forward/center Jack Lieb.
"We are pleased to welcome our incoming freshmen," said Reed. "Each of these young men has demonstrated they will be great representatives of our basketball program, academic programs and campus community. They all come from caring and supportive families and have received solid coaching during their careers up to this point. I also believe that each has skills needed by our program and thus, should find a meaningful role that's fitting to their games."
A two-time first team All-Shore Conference honoree at Christian Brothers Academy in New Jersey, Andree is a 6-foot-8 power forward. Andree earned third team All-State laurels as a junior, helping lead his squad to the Non Public A State Championship. As a sophomore, Andree was named the Monmouth County Player of the Year, one season after garnering first team All-Division as a freshman. Andree was named a three-star recruit by ESPN.
"Pat brings two very important talents to our program," said Reed. "He can shoot the ball and also has a good basketball IQ. He will be a great addition and should thrive in our offensive system that values his skill/feel combination. I am very excited about him and the career we anticipate him having."
Out of Tarzana, California, Cohen averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.3 assists as a junior for Campbell Hall, helping the Vikings to a 27-10 record, including a 6-4 mark in the Gold Coast League. The Vikings made it all the way to the CIF State Division IV Regional Finals. Cohen was a first team All-CIF Division honoree in 2014-15 while garnering Daily News second team All-Area. Also strong in the classroom, Cohen owns a 4.5 GPA.
"Jordan is a skilled guard," said Reed. "He shoots the ball very well and has extended range. He is deceptive and very efficient with his offensive game. He can get by his defender, but also has great shot credibility. Plus, he can anticipate and see offensive options as they open."
A Deerfield, Illinois native, Lieb is a 6-foot-10 center, who is playing at prep school Brewster Academy after missing much of his junior and senior seasons of high school due to injury. Lieb impressed with his AAU team, the Illinois Wolves, to help pave his way for an opportunity to play collegiate basketball.
"Jack's basketball journey has really helped to shape toughness and determination," said Reed. "From getting to know him over the past two years, it has become very clear that he is focused and intent on accomplishing his goals. He has good size, mobility and skill. He will be able to impact the game with his defensive presence and also continue to blossom on offense."
The Mountain Hawks open the 2015-16 season at Syracuse Friday night. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Lehigh will return to action on Monday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Canisius for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Lehigh then returns home next Thursday (Nov. 19) to host Yale at 7 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased at LehighTickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME during normal business hours.
