BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off an impressive 4-0 shutout, the Lehigh field hockey team looks to continue the momentum in a busy weekend as the Mountain Hawks host Liberty on Friday (6 p.m.) before traveling to Connecticut on Sunday to face Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. Friday's game is Lehigh's Play4theCure Game in support of Cancer Awareness.

Together Play4theCure and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) are committed to raising funds for cancer research, and provide cancer prevention education and early detection information to the public. Bracelets in support of Play4theCure will be available on Friday for a five dollar donation, while supplies last. Every dollar raised in Play4theCure games goes directly to support cancer research in the laboratory.

Riding a strong overall effort, Lehigh scored twice in each half Sunday to defeat Siena, 4-0. Freshman Teresa Carotenuto scored all four goals to become the first Mountain Hawk with a hat trick since 2003 and first Patriot League player with four goals in a game since 2010. The four goals were second most by any player in the nation this season and were only one shy of tying the league's all-time record, set in 1990. Following her efforts, she was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for a second straight week. Carotenuto now owns seven goals this season (six over the last three games), tied for first in the league.

Carotenuto scored just 8:07 into the game Sunday to help the Mountain Hawks take the early lead. Lehigh rode the momentum into a strong 70-minute effort. Along with Carotenuto's four goals, the Mountain Hawks' defense didn't allow a shot on goal for the game's final 60:13. The shutout marked Lehigh's first of the season and the third of junior goalkeeper Julia Ward's career.

Liberty has enjoyed a strong season, entering the weekend 7-3 overall and ranked 12th nationally. A relatively new program, the Flames' only losses have come to nationally-ranked Louisville (2-1), Wake Forest (2-1) and Boston College (3-2 in double overtime). Natalie Barr leads the team in scoring with 19 points behind nine goals and one assist. Ashlee Krulock owns 16 points (seven goals, two assists) while Sarah Gipe has 11 (five goals, one assist). Mallory Cuccio has started all 10 games in goal, posting a 2.25 GAA and .727 save percentage.

Liberty and Lehigh have met once before with the Flames winning in 2012.

Sacred Heart is 2-7 entering a Friday contest against Siena with the Pioneers' two victories coming at Villanova and vs. Holy Cross. Rachel Claroni (two goals, one assist), Danielle Gallagher (one goal, three assists) and Christine Mace (two goals, one assist) are tied for the team lead with five points apiece. Allie Brouhard and Rachel Claroni each own a defensive save while Mary Altepeter has started every game in goal, posting a 3.92 GAA and .731 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks trail the all-time series, 6-2, but did earn a big 4-2 home win last season.

Following the weekend, Lehigh will close out its home slate with games against Boston University next Saturday (Oct. 17) and Lock Haven next Sunday (Oct. 18).
