BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a pair of strong games in Mountain Hawk victories, Lehigh men's basketball freshman Brandon Alston has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Alston reached double-figure points against both Navy and Lafayette, averaging 12.0 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the field and 67 percent from three-point range over the two games.

Alston becomes Lehigh's second freshman to earn Rookie of the Week honors, along with Kahron Ross who's won the award three times. Alston began his week with a team-high 14 points in a home victory against Navy Wednesday. He scored ten of those points in the first half to spark the offense and lead his team to a one-point halftime advantage. He finished the game 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range while adding a career-high six rebounds.

The Vienna, Virginia native followed on Saturday with ten points at Lafayette. He shot 3-of-6 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. For the season, Alston is now averaging 6.5 points (fifth on the team) and 1.9 rebounds.

Sophomore Austin Price was also recognized with honorable mention laurels on the Patriot League weekly honor roll. He tallied 27 points for the week, including a team-high 16 points at Lafayette Saturday. Fourteen of those points came in the second half on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting and 5-of-5 from the free throw line to help lead his team to victory.

Alston and the Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bucknell to face the Bison. Opening tipoff is set for 8 p.m. live on American Sports Network.
