Decker and Watanabe named ECAC All-Stars

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two student-athletes from the Lehigh softball program have been named to ECAC All-Star teams, announced Wednesday. Sophomores Morgan Decker and Alexis Watanabe both earned spots on the second team as voted on by head coaches of the ECAC member institutions. Decker earns ECAC All-Star status for the second consecutive year, while Watanabe was recognized for the first time.

Last year's ECAC Co-Rookie of the Year and a first team All-Star, Decker captured her second consecutive Patriot League Player of the Year award in 2014. She finished second in the league in batting average (.412) and topped the league in home runs (nine), slugging percentage (.725), on-base percentage (.548) and bases on balls (32). Decker also led the Mountain Hawks with 12 doubles and 39 RBI this past season.

Last month, Decker was named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region team for the second straight year. Â She is a career .414 hitter with 18 home runs and 85 RBI. Decker also has a .718 career slugging percentage and a .547 career on base percentage.

Watanabe also earned All-Region honors last month and earns ECAC All-Star plaudits for the first time. The inaugural Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Watanabe made just three errors in 182 chances. She earned first team All-Patriot League honors after batting .368 with a team-best 64 hits, 37 runs scored and five triples.

A two-time All-Patriot League selection, Watanabe is a career .360 hitter with 122 hits and 85 runs scored in her first two seasons in the Brown and White.

Fordham shortstop Elise Fortier was named ECAC Player of the Year Wednesday, while James Madison's Jailyn Ford was honored as Pitcher of the Year. The ECAC Rookie of the Year award went to Penn outfielder Leah Allen.

Lehigh finished the 2014 season with a 30-20 record. The Mountain Hawks posted their 14th consecutive season with at least 30 victories in 2014 and won their third straight Patriot League regular season title.Â
