LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Emily Bausher fired a one-hit shutout, striking out a season-high 12 to lead Lehigh to a 2-0 victory over Bucknell in the rubber game of a three-game series Sunday at Becker Field. The Mountain Hawks scored runs in each of the first two innings and Bausher took care of the rest to earn her seventh win of the season and her second complete game shutout.

With the victory, Lehigh improves to 20-15 overall and 9-3 in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks lead Bucknell (15-18, 7-5 PL) by two games in the standings. Both teams have six league games remaining.

Sophomore MacKenzie Velasquez led off the game with a single, and after a ground ball moved her to second, classmate Morgan Decker singled to right to score Velasquez with the first run of the game.

The lead grew to 2-0 in the second as junior Emma Capetz led off with a double and then scored on a single to center by freshman Ashley Cole.

Bucknell's first batter of the game reached on an error, but Bausher was locked in for the next four innings, retiring the next 12 batters she faced, including the last five via strikeout. The Bison threatened in the fifth following a leadoff walk and a fielder's choice but Bausher collected two strikeouts around a pop up to Capetz at short to keep Lehigh's lead at 2-0.

Jacee Almond broke up Bausher's no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the sixth, but the junior right hander retired the final six batters to solidify Lehigh's third win in four league series.

Dana Nielsen started for Bucknell and suffered the loss allowing two runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of work. Lara Bean was impressive in relief with 5.1 innings of one-hit, no-run relief. Bean struck out nine and walked just one.

Velasquez finished with two of Lehigh's six hits, while classmate Alexis Watanabe had the only hit against Bean, a bunt single.

The Mountain Hawks will host Princeton Wednesday in a non-league double at Kaufman Field before welcoming Holy Cross for a three-game series next weekend. First pitch for game one on Wednesday is set for 3 p.m. with audio coverage at Lehighsports.com.
