Mountain Hawks head to Bucknell for three key league games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh softball team will look to return to its winning ways in a three-game series against Bucknell this weekend in Lewisburg, Pa. The Mountain Hawks and Bison will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a third game Sunday at noon.
After an impressive 12-game win streak, the Mountain Hawks have dropped four of their last five games, including the final two games of last weekend's series at Boston University. Lehigh split a doubleheader against Marist on Tuesday and is coming off a 9-5 loss to Fordham on Wednesday.
Despite the recent slump, the Mountain Hawks still have a strong 18-14 record and at 7-2 are sitting at first place in the Patriot League.
Sophomore Jessica Calvini has bumped up her offensive production as of late, posting a .421 batting average off eight hits in the past five games. She went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Mountain Hawks in the loss to Fordham. Junior Emma Capetz has also ramped up her offensive performance since returning from an early-season injury and went 3-for-3 with a triple in the game-one win against Marist. She's hitting .345 with 20 hits in 25 games played this season.
Sophomore Morgan Decker remains the top offensive producer for the Mountain Hawks, batting .395 with 34 hits and a team-high 30 RBIs. Junior Alexis Watanabe has been just behind Decker all season and is batting .366 with a team-high 41 hits and 27 runs scored.
Junior Emily Bausher earned a win in game one against Marist to improve to 5-5 on the season. She has pitched to a 2.85 ERA and struck out 48 batters this season. Bausher has made just two starts in Patriot League play, but is 2-0 with just one run and two hits allowed in 12 innings of work.
Bucknell is 14-16 overall and 6-3 in the Patriot League this season. The Bison won two-of-three games at Lafayette last weekend. The Bison have outscored opponents 139-107 and are batting .286 as a team.
Cydnee Sanders and Kristen Zahn have led the Bison's offense this season. Sanders is batting .469 with 16 RBI's and a team-high 46 hits while Zahn is at .389 with 37 hits and a team-high 26 RBI's. Bucknell has an arsenal of pitchers led by Dana Nielsen. Nielsen's 6-7 with a 3.45 ERA this season, but has 83 strikeouts in 85.1 innings pitched.
Lehigh leads the all-time series versus Bucknell 78-38. The Mountain Hawks won 3-of-4 games from the Bison last year at Becker Field.
After the series this weekend, the Mountain Hawks will host a midweek doubleheader against Princeton Wednesday at Kaufman field before welcoming Holy Cross next weekend.
