Three from Lehigh land on NFCA All-Region teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three members of the Lehigh softball program were recognized Thursday as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its All-Region teams. Freshman third baseman Morgan Decker was a first team Mid-Atlantic Region selection while Lehigh's top two pitchers, senior Becca Bliss and sophomore Emily Bausher, were named to the second team.
All three players were honored for the first time in their Lehigh careers. The Mountain Hawks have now had at least one player earn All-Region recognition in ten of the last 11 years, and for the seventh time in the last eight years, multiple Mountain Hawks earned All-Region honors.
The Jamison, Pa. native batted .456 in Patriot League play and reached base safely in each of the last 25 games of the regular season. Decker batted .475 in April with five home runs and 24 RBI as Lehigh went on a 21-3 run that propelled the Mountain Hawks to the Patriot League regular season championship.
Bliss garners All-Region honors for the first time in her career after being named Patriot League Pitcher of the Year in 2013. In 173 innings Bliss sported a 20-7 record and a 1.70 earned run average, ranking second in the Patriot League in both wins and ERA. Bliss continued to dominate Patriot League opposition going 10-0 in the league regular season for the second straight year with a 1.29 ERA. She won her last 21 Patriot League regular season starts dating back to 2011 and had a streak of 27 straight decisions won against league opponents snapped in the Patriot League Tournament.
For her career, the Escondido, Calif. native was a four-time All-Patriot League selection and a two-time Patriot League Tournament MVP. Bliss tied for second in school history with 65 career victories and ranks second in school annals in pitching appearances.
Bausher earned All-Region honors for the first time in her career with a strong sophomore campaign. A first team All-Patriot League selection, Bausher leads the Patriot League with a 1.60 ERA and topped the league in strikeouts per game with 163 in 25 appearances. She also led the Patriot League with seven shutouts, including a one-hitter, two two-hitters and a three-hitter versus Army in the Patriot League Tournament.
The New Egypt, N.J. native has already moved into the top five in Lehigh's career strikeout list with 358 over her first two seasons. Bausher is a two-time All-Patriot League selection with a 32-18 record and a 1.70 ERA for her career.
The Mountain Hawks posted a 37-16-1 record in 2013 and won their second straight Patriot League regular season championship. In the last ten years Lehigh has been the Patriot League's dominant softball program with nine regular season titles and seven tournament crowns.
