Mountain Hawks conclude fall season as Lehigh Invitational wraps up

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team shot 313 in Monday's final round to finish in sixth place out of nine teams at the Lehigh Invitational, presented by B Braun, which wrapped up Monday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks finished at 634 (321-313) in sixth place but Lehigh was just one stroke away from a tie for fourth.

"We did have a little bit of a rough start but some of our players played really great," said Lehigh head coach Judy Dwyer. "We struggled to get that fourth score, but I'm proud of our girls. Every tournament so far, we have improved and we're ahead of last year. This was a strong tournament for us with the Ivies here. Harvard and Princeton are highly rated nationally. We were rubbing elbows with the best and made a lot of progress.

Senior Crystal Lee led the Mountain Hawks individually, taking 15th place at 79-77-156. Junior Kelly Moylan was Lehigh's low scorer with a 78 on Sunday. She shot 81 on Monday to finish at 159, good for 19th place. Freshman Elizabeth McGarrigle put together two solid rounds of 80 to tie for 20th at 160.

Junior Melanie Dickens was Lehigh's low player on Monday with a 76, the lowest round for a Lehigh player on the weekend. Dickens bounced back from an opening round 88 to tie for 29th at 164. Sophomore Nicole Feierberg also tied for 29th at 84-80-164.

Lehigh's B team of four players finished in eighth place at 327-341-668. Sophomore Tess Jennings paced the B squad, tying for 20th place at 82-78-160. Freshman Claire Serruto matched Jennings' 78 on Monday to finish 25th at 84-78-162. Junior Alyssa Scheyd finished 36th at 77-89-166 while senior Elle Sander shot 84-96-180 to finish 42nd.

Harvard captured the team title with a score of 303-297-600 as all five Crimson players shot two rounds in the 70s in the two-day tournament. Princeton's Kelly Shon was the individual medalist, carding a three under par 69 on Monday to finish at two under par 73-69-142 for the tournament. Shon posted a four stroke victory over Tiffany Lim of Harvard.

The Lehigh Invitational presented by B Braun concludes the Mountain Hawks' fall season. Lehigh will open its spring campaign in March.
