
Lehigh men fall 170-126 at Rider Saturday

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Freshman Jacob Moyar won two individual events to pace the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team in a 170-126 loss at Rider Saturday at Coppola Pool. The Mountain Hawks won just four events on the day with the Broncs clinching the meet early and swimming the final event, the 200 free relay unscored.

Lehigh falls to 1-2 on the season, while Rider moves to 2-1.

Moyar won the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 1:55.69 and also took top honors in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.93. The Centreville, Virginia native also led Lehigh with a runner-up finish in the 1000 free.

Another freshman, Jamal Willis, provided Lehigh's other individual win, capturing the 50 free in 21.19 with senior Chris Hoke finishing a close second. Willis missed the 50-100 freestyle double by just .02 seconds as he was out touchded by Matthan Matthew Martir in the 100 free.

Lehigh's other event win came in the meet-opening 200 medley relay as Hoke and Willis teamed with junior Martin Kendig and sophomore Jacob Hassel to win in 1:36.81.

Sophomore Matt Carducci and junior Sean Brant finished 2-3 in the 100 back, and the Mountain Hawks posted a 2-3-4 finish in the 200 back.

On the diving boards junior Dan Bateman and freshman Colin Smith finished third and fourth respectively in both the one and three meter events.

The Mountain Hawks will open their home schedule next Saturday when they welcome Colgate and NJIT to Jacobs Pool for a 1 p.m. meet.
