Lehigh to host Patriot League Kickoff to close out fall slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team returns home to host its final event of the fall season as the Mountain Hawks will welcome Patriot League opponents Army, Colgate and Lafayette for the Patriot League Kickoff 2013 beginning Friday on the Goodman Campus.
 
The Mountain Hawks will play matches in singles and doubles against all three league foes throughout the three-day event, beginning Friday when Lehigh and rival Lafayette square off in doubles.
 
Last weekend, senior Mark Goldberg and juniors Ben Gilman and Mitchell Petersen represented Lehigh at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Goldberg, who was placed in the main draw this year, won his first match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 downing Sacred Heart's Justin Pagan, before losing second round 7-5, 6-3 to Binghamton's Sid Hazarika.
 
Mitchell Peterson, who was placed in the qualifying rounds, won his first qualifying match, downing Jesse Frieder of Boston University 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 before losing his second round in straight sets to Columbia's Shawn Hadavi. 
 
Goldberg and Petersen represented Lehigh in the doubles draw but dropped their first match 8-1 to Dartmouth's Brendan Tannenbaum and Cameron Ghorbani.
 
In addition to Lehigh's Friday evening doubles matches with Lafayette, the Mountain Hawks will face the Leopards in singles at approximately 11:30 a.m. Also on Saturday, Lehigh will face Army in both singles and doubles.
 
On Sunday, Lehigh will close out the Patriot League Kickoff and its fall season against Colgate with singles matches beginning at 11:30 a.m. with doubles to follow shortly after at 1 p.m.
