Women’s Ultimate Seeks First National Championship!

The Women's Ultimate Frisbee Team have begun an adventure to the state of Wisconsin, but not to toss the disc on Lambeau Field, eat some cheese or purchase a cheese head for some to wear to graduation.  Instead, the ladies and their coach "Pete" will be driving from Bethlehem to Appleton, a fabulous small town, population 77,000, nestled in northeastern Wisconsin near Lake Michigan and at the north end of large Lake Winnebago, home of the unique Winnebago lake fly.  But, our girls will not be seeking out a fly, instead, they will be flying up and down the field  "hucking" a white disc which is approximately 10-11 inches in diameter, to each other in the hopes of becoming National Champions in the 2012 Division III College Ultimate Championships being held May 19-May 20th .  This event was created to provide a national level competition for teams from small colleges and universities (fewer than 7500 students) and marks the third year that the USA Ultimate has held a women's championship.

Although Lehigh rosters 28 young ladies, our travel party for Nationals is 15.  The ladies of Lehigh will compete in pool B against teams from Bowdoin, Elon, Willamette and fingers crossed, will propel into the playoff bracket to position themselves for a possible Nation Championship.

Stay tuned and good Luck to our Women!
