BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In the final week of the Patriot League weekly track awards, senior Khalil Uqdah was named Male Field Athlete of the Week after his recording-breaking performance at the Penn Relays. Uqdah broke his own outdoor Lehigh record in the pole vault with a vault of 17’ 4.5” to place fourth in the College Championship group in Philadelphia last Saturday. Uqdah beat out competitors from LSU, Tennessee, Connecticut and Texas.
Uqdah broke his old record of 17’ 0.75”, which he accomplished in 2008. Earlier in the year Uqdah set the Lehigh indoor record and he only added to his legacy this past weekend at the Penn Relays. Uqdah’s vault is now ranked 20th highest in the nation according to the TFRRS rankings (Track and Field Results Reporting System).
The Baltimore, Md., native will look to have a repeat of the Patriot League Indoor championship, where he set the new league and Lehigh pole vault record with a height of 17’ 3.5”. Uqdah and his teammates will head to Lewisburg, Pa., this weekend for the Patriot League Outdoor championship.
