BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Marquis Hall has been named to the 2010 Lowe’s All-Senior All-America Team. The announcement, which was made during this year’s NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis, places Hall, who was a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, on a team that includes student-athletes from the likes of Notre Dame, Northern Iowa, Purdue, Duke, West Virginia, Gonzaga, Texas, Michigan State and Drake University. A three time All-Patriot League selection and two time Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year, Hall is the first player in league history to total 1,500 points and 500 assists and leaves Lehigh as the all-time leader in assists with 566.
A native of Portland, Oregon Hall put together one of the finest careers for a Lehigh basketball player in school annals. He is ninth in school history with 1,514 points and fourth in made three-pointers with 215. The 2007 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Hall is tied for the most Rookie of the Week awards in history with nine. He was named a Freshman Mid-Major All-America by collegeinsider.com and earned Second Team All-League laurels in 2008 and 2010 as well as First Team distinction in 2009.
Hall is a two time nominee for the Bob Cousy Award and his off-court accomplishments have been just as impressive as what he’s done on the court. A Finance major, Hall holds a 3.39 grade points average and has made multiple appearances on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. In 2009 he became Lehigh’s first-ever Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year in men’s basketball and he earned the award yet again in 2010. Hall is also an active member of Lehigh’s award winning C.O.A.C.H. program (community outreach) and a multi-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Hall and his fellow finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 men’s candidates who were announced back in October. West Virginia’s De’Sean Butler was this year’s men’s Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner.
