Mountain Hawks prep for Hoya Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s golf team returns to action on Monday, March 29 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Beallsville, Maryland to take part in the 2010 Hoya Invitational at The Members Club at Four Streams. The par-72, 6,127-yard course is one of the toughest Lehigh will face this season, as the layout was designed by PGA Tour veteran Nick Price and famed golf architect Steve Smyers. The 17-team field will tee off on Monday morning at 8:30 and play 36 holes with the final 18 holes beginning at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, March 30.
Lehigh was last in action the weekend of March 20-21 when the Mountain Hawks competed at the C&F Bank Invite in Williamsburg, Virginia. Lehigh shot a 322 on the final round of play to improve its standing by five spots and finish in 12th place with a team score of 666 (344, 322).
Leading the way individually for the Mountain Hawks was freshman Ginette Schapira, who shot a 161 (82, 79) to tie for 26th. Chelsea Michalek (165), Livia Amado (170), Rosie Davies (171) and Emily Endres (173) also competed for the Brown and White.
The Hoya Invite will be Lehigh’s third spring tournament, with the final event scheduled for April 16-17 in Suffern, New York at the Columbia Invitational.
