Uqdah named PL Male Field Athlete of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season senior Khalil Uqdah was honored by the Patriot League for a strong performance in the pole vault. Uqdah was named the Patriot League’s Male Field Athlete of the Week which was announced on Tuesday.
Uqdah took first place in the pole vault at the Armory Collegiate Invitational Saturday night with a vault of 16’ 8.75”. His vault tied his own school record and matched his IC4A qualification. He beat out athletes from Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest and Penn.
The Baltimore, Md., native was the only male Lehigh athlete to win an event as he helped the team earn 28 points during the meet. Uqdah’s record tying vault remains top in the Patriot League this season.
On the women’s side, senior Ashlee Atwell was the only other Mountain Hawk to win an event as she once again tied her own school record with a vault of 11’ 9.75”. Atwell was the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week the previous two weeks.
The Lehigh track and field teams will now turn their attention to the Patriot League Championship which will take place Feb. 19-21 at West Point, N.Y.
