Amanda Clark tallied eight kills, four blocks and hit .615 for the match as the Mountain Hawks improved to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh volleyball team won its second straight Patriot League contest on Friday night, taking care of Navy by a 3-1 score at the Wesley A. Brown Fieldhouse. Freshman
“Amanda was on fire the whole time,” Lehigh head coach Jenny Maurer said. “Our setters were doing a good job getting her the ball high enough so it was a good mutual effort. She did a great job blocking, transitioning hard and approaching fast. She made herself available and we got her the ball.”
For the second consecutive match, the Brown and White overcame a one-set deficit as Navy (6-16, 0-6 Patriot League) earned a 25-19 victory in the first set to take an early lead. Lehigh battled back with a 25-22 win in the second set and a 25-21 win in the third set, before sealing victory with a 25-19 win in set number four.
“I was really proud of our middles and the right side tonight,” Maurer added. “We got a lot of production from them. It wasn't clean early, we were slow and didn't come out of gates well, but it was good to see us settle down. I thought our passing was the biggest difference in the last three games.”
Veronica Ffrench put away 14 kills for the Midshipmen and Lauren Carpenter tallied 17 digs. Jenny Rudewicz provided 19 assists and Kaitlin Roseti racked up five blocks.
With the victory, Lehigh earned its eighth win away from home this season, surpassing last year's total of seven road/neutral wins.
“It doesn't surprise me,” Maurer said about the team's road success. “We have been tested more on the road, so we got acclimated to that.“
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday at American at 2 p.m. The Eagles currently lead the Patriot League with a 5-0 record so far this season.
