“A wet track is a fast track, but three-day-wet athletes are not usually too inspired about running,” Lehigh head coach Matt Utesch said. “I thought our kids responded well, and if we have inclement weather in subsequent meets I think they’ll do pretty well.”
Lehigh did earn several notable finishes on the final day in
James Pachucki walked away with a second place finish in his first chance to compete in the javelin this season. Pachucki’s throw of 60.79 meters was less than one meter shy of the longest mark of the day.
“We were looking for him to make a big throw in his first outing and he did,” Utesch said. “Technically he’s a much better thrower than he was last year, so I expect him to throw some pretty serious bombs out there.”
Latasha Watson did not compete in the finals of either the 200 or 400 meters due to the changing schedule on Saturday, but she set two school records the day before in the prelims. Watson set a mark of 25.52 in the 200 and put up a time of 57.15 in the 400 to qualify for the finals in both events.
“That just shows you how talented she is,” Utesch said. “She’s not peaked by any stretch of the imagination. I’m not surprised at all. I knew she could do it, and she’s got a lot more left.”
Emily Settle finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.80 meters, and Nick Ray finished second in the shot put with a throw of 15.44 meters. Ray also placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.22 meters, beating his personal best by 18 feet.
Steve Rumizen and Kyle Forrest each finished in the top eight in the decatholon. Rumizen took home sixth place, while Forrest walked away with eighth.
Several Lehigh distance runners made the trip to
On the women’s side, Hanna Baskin and Jen Filiberto combined to finish eighth and ninth to give the Brown and White two top-10 finishes in the 5K.

Alex Maurer won the high jump on the men’s side with a mark of 6’ 4 3/4” on Saturday, and also made the finals in the long jump. Idelis Matias returned from an injury that sidelined her through most of the indoor season and completed four events, qualifying for the finals in the long jump.
