Three Lehigh golfers honored at year-end team gathering

Lehigh held its annual awards dinner at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem last week, and three Lehigh student-athletes garnered recognition, in a program that included dinner, presentation of awards, and reflections from the on the recently-completed season.
Freshman Yvonne Kukora captured the Athlete of the Year Award, which is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Kukora made quite an impact as a freshman, pacing the team in several tournaments over the course of the season. She posted the lowest score among Lehigh golfers in each of the team’s final three tournaments on the season.

The Scholar-Athlete Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her teammates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. This year’s winner was sophomore Kassia Nelson, who has posted a 3.93 grade point average as a business major. On the links, Nelson was one of the team’s most consistent performers.
Junior captain Sarah March won the Coaches Award at the banquet, which is presented to the individual who made significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. March worked tirelessly as a captain throughout the season, coordinating travel, team meetings, and more.
