Lehigh opens season in Fla.; Nagel places third

FT. PIERCE, Fla. – Lehigh opened its spring season this week at the Treasure Coast Women’s Classic and the Mountain Hawks placed fourth out of the six schools in attendance. Lehigh shot a 616 (311, 305) over the course of the tournament to finish behind Florida Atlantic (581), Evansville (604), and Bethune Cookman (608). Other schools that competed were fifth place finisher and ACC member Boston College (621) and sixth place Creighton (639). Sophomore Jen Nagel was the team’s top finisher as she shot a 147 (74, 73) to finish in a tie for third along with Florida Atlantic’s Gina Larsen.

Other Lehigh finishers in Florida were Yvonne Kukora who tied for 12th place with a score of 154 (75, 79), Livia Amado who shot a 156 (81, 75) and tied for 19th overall, Ana Nam who tied for 26th place as she shot a 162 (84, 78), Emily Endres, who finished 28th overall with a two-round score of 163 (81, 82), and Caroline Boyer who shot a 166 (85, 81) to take 32nd place.

P. Phol-uayporn of Florida Atlantic captured the individual crown on the par-71 course with a two-day total of 137 (66, 71), while Evansville’s Crissy Higgins took second place with a score of 146 (78, 68).

Lehigh is back in action on March 22 when the Mountain Hawks head to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate. Tee time is set for 8:00 AM.
