Lehigh garners multiple All-League honors

Swift won the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2007 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, racing an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 8:58.64. He became fourth runner in Lehigh history to run sub-9:00 in the steeplechase and the first since Alex L’Heureux and Rob Black did in 2002. His time is currently fourth-fastest in program history. Out of the three times Swift has competed in the 3000 meter steeplechase, he has finished first in two, with his other steeplechase win coming at the Lafayette Dual.
Horn earned his second All-League selection when he placed second in the 400 meter hurdles on Saturday. Horn finished in a career-best time of 52.98 and was just .3 of a second behind first place. This season, he won the 400 meter hurdles at two meets—the Lafayette Dual on April 7 and the Greyhound Invite on April 21.

The men’s 4x100 meter relay team of senior David Falk, junior Brian Voorhis, sophomore C. Austin Wade and freshman Franklin Johnson finished second at the championship meet with a time of 42.02. Earlier this season, the quartet won the 4x100 meter relay at the Lafayette Dual.
The women’s 4x800 meter relay team of sophomores Shannon Alejandro, Kim Scotto and Sarah Serwo and freshman Jillian Randolph set a new program record with a time of 8:59.94, which was 17 seconds faster than the previous school record of 9:16.92 set at the 2006 Patriot League Championships. Lehigh narrowly beat out Colgate for second place, ahead of the Raiders by .75 of a second.
Lehigh’s men’s and women’s track and field teams return to competition this weekend when the Mountain Hawks take part in the three-day ECAC/IC4A Championships held at Princeton University’s Weaver Track & Field Stadium. Competition is scheduled to begin on Friday at noon with the decathlon.
