BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After winning first place in their respective events at the Asics/Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C., sophomore Sarah Serwo and freshman Nick Ray each earned an honorable mention from the Patriot League on Tuesday. It is the first time this outdoor season Serwo has been recognized by the league, while Ray picked up his second straight honorable mention.
On Friday, Ray claimed his second consecutive individual title in the shot put as he launched a career-best 50-foot throw. The Charlotte, N.C. native improved his career-best by 4¼ inches. Meanwhile, Serwo set a new program record on Saturday in the 800m run with a winning time of 2:12.55. The Philadelphia, Pa. native’s time was 0.54 seconds faster than the previous record of 2:13.09 set at last year’s Patriot League Outdoor Championships by Karen Welby ’06.
Lehigh and its award winners return to action on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks face archrival Lafayette in the annual Lehigh-Lafayette Dual. The meet is scheduled to take place at Moravian’s Steel Field & Breidegam Track with the field events starting at 11:30 am and the running events beginning at 12:30 pm.
