Mountain Hawks impress at College of New Jersey

Ewing, NJ – While the Lehigh men were hard at work at the Penn Relays, the Mountain Hawk women were busy having an outstanding showing at The College of New Jersey Invitational on Saturday afternoon. With the Patriot League Championships just one week away, Lehigh is taking advantage of every opportunity it gets to prepare for the league championships.

Leading the way on Saturday was Katharine Hessler, who came in first place overall in the high jump with a leap of 1.65-meters, while teammate Lauren Edwards was close behind in fifth place overall, recording a jump of 1.55-meters. Junior Andrea Luebbe crossed the finish line in a time of 4:46.37 in the 1500-meter run, which put her in fifth place in the event.

Other Mountain Hawks who performed well on Saturday were Kristi Spittle, who posted a fifth place finish in the hammer throw, as she posted a toss of 40.30 meters, while Khayla Lowe recorded a jump of 10.42-meters in the triple jump, putting her in thirteenth place. Nicole Montegary and Nicole Fatigati came in third and fifth place respectively in the long jump, with leaps of 5.49 and 5.47-meters.

Lehigh returns to action next weekend at the Patriot League Championships on the campus of Army, in West Point, New York. The action gets underway on Friday and will continue on through Saturday.
