Mountain Hawks compete in Gulden Relays

Lewisburg, PA - Lehigh traveled to Bucknell University on Saturday afternoon to compete in the unscored Gulden Invitational. It was a chance for the Mountain Hawks to see where they are heading into the bulk of their winter schedule.
Several members of the team had very impressive afternoon's, led by Francis Vincent, who came in second place in both the long jump and triple jump, while George Evans and Lavar Pope came in second and third place respectively in the 60 meter dash. Nicholas Maiormo took home the crown in the weight throw with a toss of 14.54 meters. Vaclav Malek continued his impressive season, coming in second place in the high jump, clearing 6'6" and taking second in the 55meter hurdle race.
On the women's side, the Mountain Hawks took the shuttle hurdle relay championship with ease, winning with a time of 36.21. Katie Hessler and Mary Guenther came in one and two in the high jump, as Hessler won with a jump of 5'5". In the long jump, Katie Hessler leaped to a second place finish as she finished with a jump of 5.42. Khayla Lowe came in sixth place in the triple jump as she posted a jump of 10.75.
Other teams competing with the Mountain Hawks were the host school, Bucknell, McDaniel College, Wagner, Mt. St. Mary's, Bowie State, and Kutztown. Lehigh will return to action on Thursday, January 15, when the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Multi Event at Rauch Field House. The meet gets underway at 5:00 on Thursday and resumes at 11:00am on Friday.
