“Lehigh swimming has a lot to prove this weekend,” said fourth year head coach Rob Herb. The men have several contenders poised to make a run at a championship, and the women’s team has a group of swimmers who are ready to race. We have absolutely nothing to lose. Our group is ready to swim fast and focused on showing well at our championships.”
Leading the way for the Lehigh men is the trio of senior Jon Kearney, junior Dan Johnson and sophomore Kevin McGrath.
On the women’s side Lehigh will look to a group led by senior Sherri Pickens, junior All-League selection Melanie Rolish, sophomore Julie Sicherman and freshman Lauren Kindrick. Rolish had several individual podium finishes at last year’s championships and was on the 400 yard medley relay team with Sicherman that broke the school record. Kindrick has enjoyed a strong freshman campaign in the mid-distance freestyle events.
On the diving boards, the Mountain Hawks feature two seeded divers in senior Clark Cohen and sophomore Erin Tormey.
“The Patriot League Diving is definitely an interesting group,” said Herb. “Our divers have proven all year long how strong they are inside and out. Without a full-time coach, they have proven that they can achieve.”
Overall, Herb is hoping for a peak performance from his team in the season’s final meet.
“I expect many amazing drops in time,” explained Herb. “I think this group has worked so hard and has stayed focused on the end prize. We have toughed out many rough meets, all the time focusing on doing well at the Patriot League championships.”
The 2008 Patriot League Championships get underway at 10:30 Thursday morning from Lejeune Hall in
