Mountain Hawks to return to the pool Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After nearly a two month hiatus from competition, the Lehigh swimming and diving teams will return to the pool on Saturday, as the Mountain Hawks travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to face the Marist Red Foxes. Lehigh has been training hard throughout the winter break and will see its first competitive action since the Mountain Hawks split a dual with rival Lafayette on November 16.

On the men’s side Lehigh is 2-4, but is coming off of a convincing 216-81 rout of Lafayette its last time out. Junior Dan Johnson swept the sprint events, while sophomore Kevin McGrath added three individual wins as well. Senior captain Clark Cohen swept the one and three meter diving events, and was named the Patriot League’s Male Diver of the Week for his efforts.

The Lehigh women are still looking for their first dual win of the season, after dropping a close meet to the Leopards by a score of 165-133. Freshman Lauren Kindrick and junior Melanie Rolish have been leading the way for the Mountain Hawks, while sophomore diver Erin Tormey is coming off a strong diving performance versus the Leopards.

Marist is also returning to the pool following a long hiatus. The Red Foxes have been off since December 1. On the men’s side Marist holds a 5-2 record, while the women are 4-3.

Saturday’s meet gets underway at 1 p.m. from McCann Natatorium.
