Cohen and Gray named Divers of the Week by league

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following Lehigh’s sweep of archrival Lafayette in the pool Friday night, a pair of Mountain Hawk divers were honored Tuesday as the Patriot League announced its weekly swimming and diving awards. Lehigh sophomore Clark Cohen was named the league’s male Diver of the Week, while senior co-captain Laura Gray was recognized as the female Diver of the Week. Lehigh’s dominance in the diving competition played an important role in the Mountain Hawks’ sweep of the Leopards, as the Lehigh men won by a 190-50 margin and the women won 134-109.

Cohen won both diving events against the Leopards, winning the one meter with a score of 249.30, nearly 50 points better than second place finisher, teammate David Edelstein. Cohen also ran away with the three meter competition, posting a score of 260.40 as the Mountain Hawk men went on to beat the Leopards for the 15th consecutive year. This is the second Diver of the Week award for Cohen, who also swept the diving competitions against West Chester and Colgate earlier this season.

Gray earns her first Patriot League honors after sweeping the diving events and helping lead the Lehigh women to their first victory of the season over the favored Lafayette women. Gray won the one meter dive with a score of 224.03 and also took top honors in the three meter with a score of 233.55 as the Mountain Hawk women finished 1-2-3 in the three meter event.

The Mountain Hawks will return to the pool on Saturday December 3, as they head to New Jersey to take part in the Rutgers invite. The meet gets underway at 10:00 am from New Brunswick, N.J.
