Mountain Hawks celebrate season at annual picnic

Several Lehigh program awards were handed out for individual accomplishments from the 2004-05 season. Seniors Steven Greidanus and Amanda Warrick each took home the program’s highest honor as they received the Scholar-Athlete awards. Given to the student-athlete who best combines academics and athletics, Greidanus boasts a 3.80 grade point average in computer technology, while Warrick carries a 3.31 in mechanical engineering, and was a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2004. The Coaches Award went to junior Grant Flothmeier on the men’s side and senior Jennamarie DeVito for the women. The award is given to the individual who made significant contributions to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement, or special leadership. Flothmeier was a team leader all season and captured second team All-Patriot League honors with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the Patriot League Championships. DeVito, a team captain, competed in the 200 yard IM as well as the 100 and 200 yard butterfly events at the Patriot League Championships and displayed exemplary leadership all season long. The Athlete of the Year awards went to senior Ross Green and sophomore Betsy Balaguer. The award is given to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishment of the team. Green picked up his second individual Patriot League title in as many years, winning the 100 yard butterfly and was part of the championship winning 400 yard medley relay team. Balaguer, recipient of the Coaches award in 2004 was a first-team All-Patriot League selection after placing third in the 500 yard freestyle and fifth in both the 200 and 1650 yard freestyle events.
