Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh is taking on Lafayette this weekend in more than just football. Friday night, the Mountain Hawks swimming and diving teams will open their home schedule as they welcome the visiting Leopards into Jacobs Pool. The Lehigh men come in with a record of 1-2, while the women sit at 1-3.
Lafayette’s men have yet to win this season, losing their first three meets to start the year 0-3. The women are 1-2, but did finish first at the Lafayette Invitational. For the Mountain Hawks, they will look to feed off the swimming of Ross Green, who won three events last weekend against Rider. Amanda Warrick picked up two wins as well for the women’s side.
Head coach
John Morrison spoke to the intensity of the rivalry. “This is one of our biggest meets of the season,” said Morrison. “It’s always going to be exciting for the students to swim against such a big rival. We are glad to be at home; it should be really noisy and competitive, and I think it’s going to be a very exciting meet. We have to come out and swim fast if we want to win. But if both teams come prepared and ready to compete, it should be really close to the end.” The match gets underway at
7:00 on Friday night. Last year the Mountain Hawks swept Lafayette, with the men winning 164-77 and the women by a score of 176-66.
