Women third, Men fourth in preseason polls

The women’s squad received a total of sixty points in the balloting, with no first place votes. They are led by returning all-league selections Linda Hendrixson and Linsey Kokal. Hendrixson was victorious in the 200 individual medley at the 2003 PL meet, while Kokal turned in three solid performances including a fourth-place outing in the 200 freestyle. The men’s squad received 66 points in the voting. Senior Brian Golebiewski and junior Ross Green will lead the Mountain Hawks. Golebiewski, who is a two-time All-League performer, was fourth at the PL meet in the 1,650 freestyle and sixth in the 200 backstroke. Green came in fourth spot in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 200 individual medley. Coach John Morrison is upbeat about the coming season. “We are looking good,” said Morrison. “But with the polls out it shows we have a lot to work on to prove them wrong. These polls just show the league has gotten deeper and there is more parity than ever.” Bucknell was picked to finish first on the women’s side, with Navy coming in second. Navy, in its first season competing the Patriot League for swimming and diving in, was also picked to finish first on the men’s side. Bucknell and Army were chosen second and third, respectively, in front of the Mountain Hawks. The swimming and diving season begins for Lehigh on October 25, as they welcome Drexel to Jacobs Pool.
