Lehigh returns to Jacobs Pool for the first time in two months to face American on Friday and Yale on Saturday. Entering Friday’s meet the men’s squad has posted a 6-1 overall record, 2-0 in league meets, while the women’s squad is 4-4 overall, 1-2 in league meets. The men come into to the American meet having posted wins in six consecutive meets. The team’s only defeat came at the hands of West Chester in the first meet of the season. Recently the Mountain Hawks competed in an unscored meet in Florida. During that meet the squad had an impressive showing including a sweep of the 200 yard medley relay. Prior to competition in Florida, the Mountain Hawks competed in the Delaware Invitational. During that meet, senior Bing Padmasankha broke Lehigh’s school record for most points scored in a career. The women have won three of their last four meets. Of those three wins, one was in the Patriot League vs. rival Lafayette. Seniors Laura Gabrynowicz and Missy Capone continue to shine in the water, having led the Mountain Hawks to a strong showing in Florida. In the 200 yard medley relay, Lehigh placed two teams with in the top five. American enters tonight’s meet undefeated on the men’s side and winless on the women’s side. The Eagles will provide a solid threat to Lehigh’s run at a Patriot League title with a strong front line of swimmers. American’s most recent scored result was a fourth place men’s and sixth place women’s finish at the Princeton Invitational. The men were led by Dominick Szabo, who posted a time of :54.14 in the 100 yard breaststroke, while the women were paced by freshmen Salgado Estebe. Her times in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle qualified her for her home country’s Spanish Nationals. Yale’s team competes on Friday as well, before traveling to Lehigh on Saturday. The Bulldogs’ men are undefeated heading into the weekend, while the women have lost only one meet. Lehigh will be looking for its first ever win over Yale when the two teams meet on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
