Swimming & Diving to begin 2002-03 season

Bethlehem, PA – The changing of the weather and the turning of the leaves not only brings cold temperatures to the South Mountain, it also signifies the beginning of the winter sports season. With basketball and wrestling practices in full swing, the swimming & diving teams open their season this weekend with a meet at Drexel University. Last season the Mountain Hawks’ squads fared very well at the Patriot League Championships. The women’s team placed fourth at the championships with a score of 506 points, while the men placed first with a score of 694. A majority of the each team’s top athletes return, having lost only a hand full of letter winners due to graduation. "It’s our first meet of the year and it should be a good chance to see our freshman compete," said head coach John Morrison. "We are looking for some fast, consistent times across the board. It’s a non-scoring meet but we still want to do our best." The Lehigh-Drexel meet will get underway on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from Philadelphia. For more information, contact
