Mountain Hawks place 24 on Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh totaled 24 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Rolls for men’s and women’s swimming and diving announced by the league on Tuesday. Freshman Paola Simon topped the Mountain Hawks with a 3.95 grade point average in the College of Business and Economics. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 GPA and earn a varsity letter in his or her sport.
Simon led a group of 13 Mountain Hawk women who were named to the honor roll. Right behind Simon was junior Liz Murray, who posted a 3.92 GPA in the spring semester. Murray majors in journalism. Ten of the 13 Lehigh women named to the honor roll posted GPAs above 3.50.
On the men’s side, senior Brian Curci led Lehigh with a 3.93 GPA, majoring in business information systems. Fellow team captain Dan Johnson posted a 3.50 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. Johnson, a three-time All-Patriot League selection, was named the Patriot League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s swimming for the second consecutive year back in February.

In all 207 student-athletes, 112 women and 95 men were named to the honor roll. Earlier this year the league announced its swimming and diving Scholar-Athletes of the year. Johnson collected the men’s award for the second straight year, while Navy’s Kelly Zahalka was named women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the third time.
