Preseason practice underway for Mountain Hawks

“The first week back is really an opportunity for everyone to get the rust off,” said head coach Fran Troyan, who enters his 13th season just three wins shy of 400 for his career. “We have expectations of where we want the team to come in physically and mentally and the team came back ready to go. We’re excited to get started, and we have a whole lot of work ahead of us.”
The season opener is still over a month away, so much of the early season workload for the Brown and White will revolve around fundamentals and sharpening individual skills and communication. The Mountain Hawks captured their ninth straight Patriot League regular season championship in 2007, and despite the loss of seven seniors, Lehigh has plenty of talent back including reigning Patriot League Player of the Year, senior Kate Marvel and the Pitcher of the Year, junior Lisa Sweeney. The Mountain Hawks also return all-league performers in senior first baseman Taryn Hanley and sophomore pitcher Tiffany Curtis, but will have to fill holes at the corner outfield spots and on the left side of the infield. Troyan has also brought in a strong class of five freshmen who will look to make immediate impact.
