Mountain Hawks set to play two with Monmouth

The Mountain Hawks offense continues to put up big numbers, as Lehigh is hitting close to .400 as a team over its last ten games and is averaging over eight runs per game during that span. Senior designated player Lauren Haney is the reigning Patriot League Player of the Week, after hitting two home runs and driving in ten runs in six games last week. Haney leads the Mountain Hawks with four homers this year and leads the league with 31 RBI. Classmate Julie Sterrett has also been hitting well as of late, as she racked up 11 base hits in six games last week and currently holds a ten game hitting streak.
Sophomore Lisa Sweeney has done the job both at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle. A 3-0 week last week gave Sweeney a 13-4 record this season, while she is also helping her own cause at the plate with three homers and 18 RBI. Freshman Tiffany Curtis has worked well in tandem with Sweeney. The duo boasts a combined 8-1 record with a 1.29 ERA over Lehigh’s last ten games.
Monmouth comes in to Wednesday’s doubleheader with a 23-8 record and an impressive eight game winning streak. Heather Gordon (.472, 5 HR, 48 RBI) is the reigning NEC Player of the Week, while Jessica Nicola (.412, 4 HR, 24 RBI) earned Rookie of the Week honors. The Hawks are hitting .349 as a team. Kristine Sawlsville is Monmouth’s top pitcher with a 12-3 record and a 1.30 ERA.
Lehigh leads the all-time series 10-8 versus Monmouth. These two teams met three times last year. The teams split two games at the Rebel Spring Games in
