LU looks for revenge vs. Princeton on Wednesday

Fresh off a four game weekend sweep of archrival Lafayette, Lehigh returns to Kaufman Field Wednesday afternoon to host defending Ivy League champion in a midweek doubleheader.

The Mountain Hawks will look to avenge three losses to the Tigers last season, including a 3-1 defeat at the NCAA Regional in Tucson, Ariz., which ended Lehigh’s season.

The Brown and White are off to another strong start this season and after last weekend’s success against Lafayette a pair of Mountain Hawks were honored with Patriot League weekly awards.

Junior rightfielder Julie Sterrett was named the league’s Player of the Week after going 7-for-12 with two home runs and nine RBI in four games versus Lafayette. Sterrett has improved her average to .400 on the year and is tied for the league lead with 32 hits. Freshman Lisa Sweeney was named Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week and the third time this year. Sweeney was 2-0 last week with just one earned run allowed in 13.2 innings of work. She improved her record to 12-3 with a league best 0.93 earned run average.

Princeton enters Wednesday’s twinbill with a 16-8 record. Last time out the Tigers swept their Ivy League opening doubleheader over a Penn team that took two from the Mountain Hawks a week ago. Lehigh has lost five straight games versus Princeton and will look to beat the Tigers for the first time since 2003.

Wednesday’s doubleheader gets underway at 3:00 pm from Lehigh’s Kaufman Field. The twinbill will be broadcast online at lehighsports.com with streaming powered by Yahoo! Sports. Lehigh returns to Patriot League play this weekend when the Mountain Hawks host Bucknell in a four game series with doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
