Martin earns Patriot League Player of the Week honors

Bethlehem, PA - Coming off a week where the Mountain Hawks clinched the top seed in the Patriot League Championship, sophomore shortstop Mendy Martin picked up her first Player of the Week award of the season on Monday afternoon.

Martin helped the Mountain Hawks go 4-0 last week, batting .556 with a 1.111 slugging percentage as the Brown and White swept twinbills from Rider and Army. She went 3-5 and had 7 RBI, including her first career homerun, during Lehigh’s doubleheader sweep of Rider last Wednesday. Martin had five hits on the week, two of which went for extra bases, and played error-free defense at shortstop.

This marks Lehigh’s 12th weekly award on the season and third Player of the Week award. The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Hofstra to play a non-league doubleheader. The game begins at 3:30 in Hempstead, N.Y.
