In a last minute addition to the schedule, the Mountain Hawks will take on the Syracuse Orange Wednesday night, in a single game scheduled for 6:00 at
Patriots Park in
Allentown. Lehigh’s scheduled Tuesday doubleheader at Penn was postponed due to bad weather, while
Syracuse was slated to play at
Binghamton on Wednesday, but those games were also cancelled because of poor field conditions.
Lehigh comes in riding a school and Patriot League record 13 game winning streak. Over the weekend the Brown and White opened up Patriot League play with a four game sweep of Bucknell in Lewisburg. Senior right hander Emily Ling picked up a pair of wins on the season to improve her record to 9-2. Ling was honored Monday as the league’s Pitcher of the Week for the third straight week and the fourth time this season. Freshman Kate Marvel hit over .600 in the four game sweep and was recognized as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, her second such award of the season.
Syracuse comes to Allentown after a lengthy weather related layoff. The Orange have not played since March 20 and have had four games rained out since then. Syracuse has posted a 10-9 record against some tough competition; the Orange have wins over national powers UCLA, and Florida State. Freshman Chanel Roehner and junior Alexis Switenko pace the Orange attack, while Lehigh Valley native Courtney Mosch leads the pitching staff with a 1.35 ERA. Tonight’s game is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Wednesday nights game gets underway at 6:00 from Patriots Park in Allentown. All the action can be heard live on the Lehigh website at lehighsports.com with Jeff Tourial and Steve Lomangino.
