Defending Patriot League champs wrap up fall schedule

In last weekend’s tournament the Mountain Hawks held off Seton Hall 2-1 and after losing to
Coach Troyan is pleased with the improvement his pitching staff showed over the summer, especially senior Emily Ling. The senior led the Mountain Hawks in wins and strikeouts a year ago and has used the fall as an opportunity to experiment with some new pitches.
“She’s put in a lot of hard work over the last three years,” Troyan said. “It’s starting to pay dividends.”
Another player who had a solid fall season is second baseman Jessica Young. A second team All-Patriot League selection last year, Troyan believes Young is poised to have an incredible senior season.
Official preparations for the 2004 season begin in late January. Between now and then Troyan would like to see his team work through some communication issues on defense, get healthy, and focus on speed and strength as the Mountain Hawks look for a return trip to the NCAA Tournament.
“Even though the fall is a time to work on different things, the team did a nice job competing,” Troyan said.
Lehigh opens the 2005 season on February 25, when the Mountain Hawks participate in the Leadoff Classic in
