In her final semester at Lehigh, Treon posted a 3.67 GPA. She was recognized for her work in the classroom in being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II University Division team. Over her four years, Treon was recognized multiple times on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and was a member of the Dean’s List on several occasions. On the field, Treon recently wrapped up her career as a four-year starter in the leadoff spot for the Mountain Hawks. In 2004, she was tops on the team in hits, triples, home runs, stolen bases, and runs scored. Her seven triples and 62 hits led the Patriot League. Treon was once again an All-Patriot League selection in 2004, marking her third appearance on the team in four seasons. As a senior, she was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region second team, and she also captured the Lehigh Athletics Department’s top graduating female athlete award. Treon becomes the third Lehigh softball player to be named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year overall, and the second straight. Last year, former teammate Stephanie Digneo won the prestigious award. In 1995, Karen Kascinski earned the honor. "I am extremely excited for Shana and her family,” said Lehigh head coach Fran Troyan. “The Patriot League's catch phrase is ‘Today's Scholar-Athletes, Tomorrow's Leaders.’ Shana's
recognition as the Patriot League's Scholar-Athlete for Softball is especially meaningful given the obvious importance placed on the scholar-athlete in the Patriot League. I am quite certain that Shana is well on her way to being one of ‘Tomorrow's Leaders.’”
Thanks in large part to her stellar play, Lehigh captured the Patriot League's regular season title in each of Treon's four seasons. Her 235 career hits and 39 career stolen bases each rank fourth all-time in Lehigh softball history.
Treon was one of eight Lehigh student-athletes from the softball team on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll for the spring semester. Among other Mountain Hawks honored was freshman Stephanie Palmieri, who was one of two in the league to post a perfect 4.00 GPA during the season. Other Mountain Hawks joining Treon and Palmieri on the Honor Roll are freshman Stefanie Forlenza (Arts and Sciences, 3.67), senior Elizabeth Gripp (Sociology/Social Psychology, 3.50), sophomore Ali Linsk (Behavioral Neuroscience, 3.71), freshman Whitney Schenbeck (Business, 3.70), freshman Julie Sterrett (Arts and Sciences, 3.50), and junior Britt Swanson (Architecture, 3.26). To be eligible for the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 GPA and be awarded a varsity letter in his or her sport. In all, 48 Patriot League softball players qualified for the Honor Roll, including the eight Mountain Hawks. 2004 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll Name Class Major GPA Fr.
