Lehigh returns to action this Tuesday in a non-league doubleheader with La Salle. The Explorers enter Tuesday’s contest with a 9-17 overall record and are 3-5 in the Atlantic 10. La Salle is coming off a doubleheader sweep by St. Bonaventure in which the Bonnies won by 3-1 and 6-3 scores. Lehigh has won 15 of its last 16 games, including six in a row following a four game sweep of Lafayette and a series victory over Colgate. During the Lafayette series, Lehigh outscored the Leopards 37-6 over the course of the series. Emily Ling picked up a pair of wins this past weekend, including 26 strikeouts in two outings vs. the Leopards. Stephanie Digneo continues her push towards Lehigh and Patriot League history as she is only 16 hits shy of breaking assistant coach Kim Miller’s career hits record of 247. Digneo is averaging more than one hit per contest this season. At that pace, Miller’s mark would be in jeopardy during Lehigh’s season ending series with Holy Cross. Statistical leaders for the Mountain Hawks include Jessica Young (.388 batting average and nine doubles), Stephanie Digneo (38 hits), Shana Treon (four triples), Mary Wieder (two homeruns), and Jenny Bender (26 RBI). Pitching wise, Emily Ling is tops on the team with 11 wins and also leads the way with 109 strikeouts. For La Salle, Amanda Clark leads the way at the plate with a .279 batting average. She is also tops on the team in hits, doubles, and RBI. Ali Wood is the team’s top pitcher, posting a 6-4 record with a 1.54 ERA in 76.0 innings.
