The Lafayette Leopards invade Goodman Campus Saturday and Sunday for four Patriot League contests. The Leopards enter the series with a 4-16 overall record, 1-5 in the league, while Lehigh is 19-6 overall, 7-1 in the league. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a tripleheader at Colgate where the squad won two of three games. Lehigh’s nine game winning streak was snapped following game one in which the Raiders were victorious 5-0. Lehigh rebounded, however, winning games two and three 2-0 and 4-3 respectively. Jenny Bender managed four hits on the afternoon, including a homerun, and also picked up a pair of wins. Mary Wieder also went yard for the Mountain Hawks, her second long-ball of the season. Lehigh had two of its players honored by the Patriot League this past week. Second baseman Jessica Young earned Player of the Week honors, while Emily Ling was tabbed pitcher of the week. It is the second time this season that Young and Ling have been praised by the Patriot League. Young was amazing both at the plate and in the field for the Brown & White. Young made only one error in 23 chances, while hitting .389 with three doubles, four RBI, and four runs scored. Young also made a fantastic defensive play on last Saturday vs. Army to keep the Black Knights from scoring a run. Ling was head coach Fran Troyan’s go-to-pitcher this past week. Ling went 2-0 in the pitchers circle with one save in 14.2 innings. She also struck out 15 batters, while yielding only six hits and two unearned runs. For the first time this season Ling was called upon to bat, and helped her own cause by picking up an RBI single. Lafayette is led at the plate by Tara Martinho. Martinho is hitting .283, with five doubles and, three RBI. Lauren Belovich is tops in the pitching circle, having posted a 3-7 record with a 2.74 ERA, with 61 strikeouts.
