Lehigh takes two of three from Colgate

Hamilton, NY – Lehigh took two of three games from Colgate Thursday afternoon in a key Patriot League tripleheader, to improve to 19-6 overall, 7-1 in the Patriot League. With the win and two losses the Raiders fall to 12-9 overall 1-3 in the Patriot League. In game one, Lehigh’s season high nine game winning streak was snapped as Natalie Rawson went 2-for-3 at the plate, including her fourth homerun of the season, with five RBI. Melissa Rawson belted a double, her sixth of the season, as she went 2-for-3 at the dish with two runs scored. For Lehigh, Shana Treon, Stephanie Digneo, Jessica Young, and Kelly Kliewer each picked up hits. Young and Kliewer’s hits were doubles, their ninth and sixth respectively. Emily Ling took the loss for the Mountain Hawks, falling to 9-2 on the season. Ling struck out six Raiders, but was saddled with five earned runs. Scoring (Game 1)

Lehigh scored runs in the first and third innings, while Jenny Bender held the Colgate bats in check for her sixth win of the season. Kate Howard took the loss for the Raiders, falling to 6-5 on the season. Bender WAS Lehigh in the second game. Not only did she go the distance for the win, the senior co-captain went 2-for-3 at the plate, including her first homerun of the season. Colgate jumped out to a 1-0 lead before falling behind 2-1. The Raiders answered in the home half of the fifth, plating two runs to take a 3-2 lead. The Mountain Hawks again responded, this time with a run in the sixth and a run in the eighth, while Jenny Bender shut down the Colgate bats for the final 3.1 innings to earn her seventh win of the season and second of the afternoon. Three Lehigh players posted two hit games, including Xochitl Mota, Stephanie Digneo, and Bender. Also adding hits for Lehigh was Mary Wieder and Kelly Kliewer. Wieder belted her second homerun of the season, while going 1-for-4. Melissa Rawson went 3-for-4 at the plate with a homerun and three RBI for Colgate.
