Lehigh sweeps Leopards

Forks Township, PA – Lehigh maintained its league dominance this weekend completing a sweep of archrival Lafayette on Sunday beating the Leopards 3-2 in game one and 10-4 in the nightcap. The Mountain Hawks are now 29-12 overall and are in first place in the Patriot League with a 13-3 record. The Leopards are 5-26 overall and 1-15 in the league. Lehigh pounded out ten hits in the first game to score three runs and give Danielle Resovich her sixth with of the season. Senior Chris Duncan led the offensive attack for Lehigh with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with a double and a run scored. Junior Stephanie Digneo and Jenny Bender each turned in 2-for-4 efforts and each had a pair of doubles. Sophomore Shana Treon went 2-for-4 at the leadoff spot and freshman Jessica Young hit a solo homerun in the second inning. Resovich went the distance for Lehigh finishing her seventh complete game of the season. She scattered six hits that produced two earned runs and fanned eight in the win. Resovich did not allow any walks and gave up just one extra base hit. In game two Lehigh pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of three Leopard errors to complete the sweep. The Mountain Hawks scored four runs in the top of the first and never trailed in the 10-4 win. Shannon Long went 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBIs. Duncan hit a triple and knocked in two, and Digneo went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Stephanie Howell started the game but allowed four runs in three innings. Freshman Emily Ling pitched the last four innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out eight. Lehigh will take on Rider on Wednesday afternoon in a non-league double header in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Game 1
