Lehigh welcomes Penn for Tuesday twinbill

Junior Lisa Sweeney continued her strong start at the plate, going 3-for-7 on Saturday including her third home-run of the season. In the circle, Sweeney recorded her 500th career strikeout, but yielded eight hits and four runs in suffering her first loss of the season. Lehigh received a strong pitching performance from sophomore Tiffany Curtis in game two versus the Stags, but three seventh-inning errors doomed the Mountain Hawks in a 5-4 setback. Offensively, freshman Sam Miller hit her first career home run in game one, while senior Kate Marvel and sophomore Amy Piccinich each ripped two hits in the nightcap.
Penn enters today’s games with an 11-5 record overall, and an 8-2 mark in its last ten games. The Quakers split a doubleheader at Monmouth on Saturday. Senior Annie Kinsey, the 2007 Ivy League Player of the Year, leads the team with a .400 batting average, while freshman Jessie Lupardus has been the Quakers top pitcher with numbers (9-1, 0.36 ERA) comparable to those of Sweeney.
