Bethlehem, PA – Head coach Billy Taylor has announced the hiring of Bob Simmons as an assistant coach for the Lehigh men’s basketball program. Simmons joins both Brett Reed and Nathan Jameson in rounding out the Lehigh coaching staff. Bob Simmons comes to Lehigh after serving as the head coach at Delaware Valley College for the past two seasons. Before leading the Aggies, Simmons spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Lebanon Valley College, where he served as both the recruiting coordinator and conditioning coach. The Flying Dutchmen qualified for post-season play all four seasons Simmons was at Lebanon Valley. A 1993 graduate of Wilkes University, Simmons spent his senior campaign as a student assistant coach. "Bob Simmons brings a great amount of experience to Lehigh," said Taylor, set to enter his first season as the Mountain Hawks’ head coach. "He has great character and a tireless work ethic, and with his connections in the Northeast, he will give us the ability to go out and recruit student-athletes that fit in the mold of Lehigh University. We are excited to have him on board." Lehigh opens its 2002-2003 season on Friday, November 22 as the Mountain Hawks host Dartmouth. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at Stabler Arena.
